Good Morning all .........
I'll be mounting a kicker on the 84 montauk. I will mount it on the transom and bolt it. I know the BW documentation says it is ok to let the engine cant inward but a wedge could be used to have the engine mounted straight.
I would prefer not to add a wedge.
Will letting the engine cant on the transom prevent me from installing some kind of remote control in the future?
Is there an argument for or against using a wedge?

I do not think it is necessary to use a wedge on a kicker.

You can adjust the trim of the engine using the trim rod on the motor.
I have my trim rod in the second hole I believe when I am using the engine. When I trailer the engine, I use the 5th, upper hole, which gives me more ground clearance to the skeg of the motor.

Thanks Joe...... I dont mind if the kicker is on an angle as is the starbord transom is where it will be mounted on my montauk. I just dont want to fill and drill the kicker engine mount holes again for a remote setup in the future.
After reading your posts about a remote setup, I think I will make that my next project.

I also set-up a Montauk with a kicker which can be controlled from the helm.
