Hi. I am thinking about repowering my whaler with a 90hp Evinrude. Would I need to change the console, throttle ? It has an 1989 Yamaha 2 stroke on it now... How much would this work cost (I don't know how to do it myself)...?

new cables, binnacle - the works. Easiest thing - put a yammie back on it. Cost to re-power - quite a lot. Shop it about for the best price and make sure you have a contract that states the completion. What boat are you re-powering?

since your asking about price, i agree with mark. You would have to change all your gauges, wires, binnacle, cost about 1k to 1200 depending and that doesn't include labor, just parts. If you really want an e-tec then shop your closest dealers for the best deal but you missed most of Evinrude specials for this year. They typically run a repower special starting in November/december and ends in march or early april.
Otherwise check out the local dealers in your area. If you can ask the dealer questions, see his shop, call him on Saturday that is the guy you want to deal with because he will take care of you. Outboard engines today are reliable and are fairly tested technology, there are two stroke vs four stroke debates and each have pluses and minuses depending on your boating style. In NY you don't have the California emission requirements, so unless you plan to move west, you don't have to worry about those restrictions.

What whaler?
