I'm going to look at 2 rebuilt outboards from an outboard place. They have 2 I would be interested in. Need opinions please on performance, fuel consumption, durability, driveability, parts availability, longevity, etc

1. 1999 Merc 90

2. 1999 Tohatsu 90

Thoughts?

I'd be wary of a rebuild, though if I were given the choice between one that was freshly rebuilt and had zero hours and one that had a season or two of use on it since its rebuild, I'd take the latter; its been proven.

A lot of rebuilt outboards don't last more than 10 or 20 hours.

Caveat emptor.
