I'm new here and was wondering if anyone else lives on or has a home on the Cape. I have a weekend place in Dennisport. A real good friend of mine recently bought a 1965 16' Sakonnet(?) that he is working on and hopes to have it ready by the summer. I must admit that I was bitten, real bad, after seeing his little project and am now on the hunt for either a Montauk or an Outrage that I can trailer cause its really difficult to get into a marina unless you buy a new boat which is not in the cards right now. I've been lurking here for only a short while but have learned a lot in that time. I cannot wait to get my first BW and take my family out for some great adventures!

David,
My in-laws are in Dennis. I bought a 1967 Eastport from a guy in Falmouth in 2006. Going to be getting a 1985 75 hp Merc mounted on it in the next few weeks and hopefully out on the water soon. Keep and eye on Craigslist...seems to me there is usually a Whaler on there somewhere.

Andy, hope that interior blue number helped. My family has a 1972 Sakonnet in Falmouth which I was bottom painting when the northeaster came through in April. I just rebuilt the two hatch sections of the boat's raised bow platform (painted white), and will reinstall them for the first time in over ten years, back in the boat where they belong when I'm back up in July.

Live in FL, but family has summer place in Dennis. I've Whaler'ed and fished out of Sesuit all my life. Grew up trolling the Brewster Flats and Quivet Creek down to the Target ship. Not much of the Target ship left anymore!

David,
If you're looking to buy a Whaler on Cape Cod, check out the Cape Cod Times (local newspaper) online classified ads (http://www.capecodclassified.com/). I just took a look and in today's edition, there are 14 Whalers for sale, from 13' to 23', four of them are 17' Montauks.
I live in Osterville on Cape Cod and own a '88 Montauk. Even though I work in the Boston area, I still take the time to use the boat four or five times a week. It's a perfect boat to use around Cape Cod. I've been to Martha's Vineyard with it many times and have also spent quite a bit of time exploring tributaries where the water is only two or three feet deep. I can go just about anywhere and love it.

Here is a link on Craigslist for a 1965 Sakonett. I have no involvement in it and do not know any details, just passing it along.
