I have a 1981 Johnson 35 that has been sitting for several years that came with a BW 13' I recently purchased. I replace the water pump and did some wiring work and it ran great yesterday. As I've suspected, the lower unit is getting water in it from somewhere. The bearings in the lower unit didn't look so good when I was working on the pump. Long story short- any recommendations for a repair shop in Charleston, SC? I've been talking to Seel's since they've sold me some parts and shared advice with me as I visit them. Thanks! Lee

I use a guy out on James Island who has a shop next to Kurt Oberly's High and Dry Boatworks Whaler restoration shop. The engine shop is Duke's Marine. He does great work but is very difficult to pin down with respect to when a job will be done. Excellent work, though, if you have the luxury of just dropping off the engine and can stand the wait.

Thanks- I checked them out Friday when I drove by. Everyone is pretty busy- looks like 2 weeks to do it. I could probably get the seal and bearings out myself and maybe get them back in with the proper tool, but some jobs for the first time are such a nightmare. Thanks for the info!

A good repair manual is nice to have.
I have had one for most all of my motors.
