There wasn't much to the original rub rail. I was told with my Nauset, that the single best upgrade I could make was to upgrade to a modern Montauk rub rail. At that time the best price I could find for a new rubrail was with the Whaler dealer. The new rub rail offers some real protection and will make those old hulls POP! Look a my personal page to see a good example.

How is the old one piece rub rail installed? Adhesive?

I would like a rub rail that I can run my wiring for my bow light that will look something Whaler would use and offer more protection than just the one piece. Any suggestions?

Yes, the old one piece rub rail was just glued in place.

I recommend you use the OE Barbour three piece rub rail. This will be easier to install, offer better protection for the hull and allow new wiring to be run to the bow light.

You can even use the White insert in the three piece rub rail to mimic to look of the 1962 original.
