Hi,
My name is Lee and I'm new to the forum. I live in Charleston, SC. I just made a "handshake" deal on a 1982 BW 13' and I'm super excited about it! I currently have a 1986 MonArk jon boat that I'm painting. I've been involved in high performance cars and drag racing for most of my life and it's been fun getting into boats. Looking forward to chatting with you all. Thanks!

Hey Lee:
I'm in the Charleston area as well, and have a 13' about the same vintage as yours. There are some pics on my personal page.

Welcome Lee, I live over on Johns Island. There are lots of great and helpful people here on WC. If you ever have any questions about any Boston Whaler you will find friendly people here that can answer anything. When you get your 13 footer post some pictures for us.

Hey surfshark, I guess a lot of us from Charleston are on here! I have a 66 13' (see personal page for pics). I know of a few others in the area that are really into restoration and don't post here. Also IOPTom on here is from IOP... Post some pics!

Hi Lee, I joined the site in the last month or so myself and have started work on a 17 Montauk inherited by me but which I have used for the last twenty years. Though I live in Spartanburg, I graduated from The Citadel years and years ago and we have a home at Edisto Beach where the Whaler stays most of the time. You will gain valuable information from this site which is thoroughly infested with helpful people who know Whalers well.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! The seller of the '82 Whaler brought it to me the other night and I immediately washed it so my wife and neighbors' first impression won't be that of a dirty old boat. I'll post photos this weekend. I'm already in love with this thing- it looks like it's in great shape. I feel like I own an American icon! Next phase is purchasing a reliable motor that will power it sufficiently. I was thinking of a good 25HP to haul my wife, daughter and Boston Terrier in it, but I'm looking out for any good deals. Look forward to talking with you all!
