Hi all,

Can anyone with Baystar hydraulic steering tell me the difference between the following two cylinders? The application chart for OMC 1977-1989, 65-150hp calls for cylinder HC4648H but the side note says that: "Cylinder HC4645 may be used in these applications. The pivot plate will need to be flipped before installation." Is that the only difference? I know some of you have this installed on 17s (mine is an '85 Montauk). Can you tell me which cylinder you used and if you had any clearance issues?

Thanks, Josh

Josh,

For your application the literature I saw said to use cylinder HC4645H with a replacement pivot plate HA4642. You can download the Hydraulic Steering Selection Guide at

Good Luck.
