Hi
Been looking for awhile now, soaking up info.
We have a 22 guardian, (X-navy) no engines yet so will be looking for info on eng choice. Will be putting twins on and taking folks out whale watching. North coast of California.
Also have a 25 guardian with twin 225 mercs however haven't had them checked so don't know if they are any good. It also has the large swim door, still has the seal team 1 decal on the center consol.

If I were you there are two things I would be considering.
1. Minimum HP to plane. BW recommended minimum HP of 90 hp for the Outrage 22 hull.
2. Weight with twins. Evinrude ETEC has the lowest weight for the 90 hp engine (around 315lbs per motor).
In addition most of your customers will be environmentally conscience and you can tell them that the ETEC have the lowest emission ratings in their motor class. Always a bonus with the enviro crowd.
Max HP for that hull is 240hp so the boat could run 115hp motors it is just that you will be adding more weight to the stern. In Northern CA waters there are very few days when you can run at more than 22 knots comfortably in a mono hull boat anyway.
I do not know where you are in Northern CA but a trip to the Outboard Motor Shop in Oakland might be worthwhile to get their opinion. They are a BW dealer and sell/service many of the major brands of motors Evinrude, Honda, Yamaha and Mercury.

Ok here's a little more info.
We have a patio boat we take sight seeres up the albion river. It has a 90 yamaha, just had its 50 hr.
So I'm thinking a pair of 90's for the 22. Max is 240 min is 85. Will 180 give me enough power with six passengers plus maybe one crew. Personaly I don't think you can have too much power just have to know how to use it.
Cost is deffinetly a consideration as we work on donations and we have had some very generouos doners however that dosen't mean we can go crazy.
On the 25 whats the feasability of moving the consol to the rear? I would reather have the passengers in front where I can keep an I on them.
