Interesting idea theres been a rash of thefts around here, somone stole a 20 ft guardian ex police boat the trailer it sat on and the dually it was hooked too. The recovered the boat and trailer with no motor and the dually is still missing as well. Someone once told me locks keep honest people honest, if someone truly wants it they will find a way.

Any deterrent is better than no deterrent at all. Cordless angle grinders make quick work of just about any locking device but I believe in at least making it inconvenient for a thief. I use a thick multi-strand cable lock through a wheel and around the frame.

Good insurance is my only real comfort.

A few years back I had twin 250's stolen off the transom of my cuddy cabin while it was in the water at a marina. I'd have loved to seen video of the theft to know how they accomplished it.

that's true if they want it bad enough they're going to get it. With this device I think it would be hard to cut off but could be dragged up on a hauler leaving a skid mark. like Johnny said any deterrent is better than nothing. A lock on the tongue can always be unbolted a new tongue put on. When I got this I had never seen them before, that's the reason I posted this picture for someone who is never seen something like this.

That wheel locking device definitely looks like it would be more of a challenge to remove than my cable lock. I've seen similar products. I think I'm going to more seriously consider something like that.

Trailers being stolen at the ramp parking lot seem to be pretty common here.

Guts, does your device prevent the removal of the trailer tire? I've seen some that have a metal dish of sorts that covers the lug nuts.

yes Johnny if you look at the picture next to the cup that covers a spindle you'll see that covers one of the lug nuts. So the wheel cannot be removed without cutting the apparatus. My experience is cutting galvanized with a torch is not that easy to do.

Okay, I've search and search online - where do you get this one - how much?

Seems like this one looks the best out of the 2-3 various trailer wheel clamps.
