The race around the World is almost on. "Earthrace", a futuristic concept powerboat from New Zeland will attempt to circumnavigate the world in less than 75 days in order to break today's World Record. Not only that but will try to do it by running it's engines exclusively with biodiesel. The main purpose behind this event is to show the WORLD that there are cleaner and better fuel alternatives that can help improove the actual downhill conditions of our polluted Planet Earth.
After a year of prep works and fund rasings, the intrepids will begin their challange this next week at the Island of Barbados and hopefully this crew of three (Anthony, the only northamercan from California) will return before the time to beat. Great cause and I wish them well! Visit their site at
www.earthrace.net to see their videos of experiences throughout this process. There is a particular footage when they run into a nicaraguan vessel full of armed men making warning shoots to try to stop and board them and for their good luck they turn out to be from the contry's naval forces... Check it out.
The last stop before this historical event is in my island of Puerto Rico where I got to meet them. I'll say they are genuine and real people bringing awareness for a real and serious cause that is affecting each and everyone of us.

wheaven,
Thanks for the nice photos. I have been hearing a lot about the BioDiesel fuel oils. Seems easy enough to convert the Automobile Diesel engines to use the 100% Bio fuel... All we need are more fueling stations to supply it. I understand my new Ford Truck will go from 18 miles per gallon on Diesel No.2, to 55 miles per gallon on the 100% Bio.... Not bad...
Diesel Outboards? I know a few have been tried. Who knows what the future will bring us.
