So far, I have worked my way through all of the issues I have posted about on my new/old 25 foot Outrage. My latest question has to do with mounting a dive ladder. I would like to put an armstrong ladder on the transom, but am concerned that the transom on the upper and outer edges seems to be just foam with a layer of gelcoat on both sides. I have twin 150's on the hull, so mounting to the reinforced part is impossible due to lack of space. If I mount to this foam area, I think it will ultimately poke holes through the gel-coat, even if mounted through hull with the backing plate.

Does anyone have any ideas how to mount this, or a comparable ladder?

I'm trying to tackle this same problem with the mounting of an auxillary engine - there is not enough room on the reinforced transom area of my 25 Revenge because of the twin engine set up. And the transom glass is only 1/4 inch thick beyond the raised re-inforced engine mounting area.

The solution being worked on at this moment is to custom fabricate an "L" shaped base plate that is through bolted on the reinforced portion of the topside of the gunwale. There is reinforced area under the non skid surface part. Then the lower i.e. vertical base piece would be tapped and screwed into the non reinforced transom. Hence the majority of the stress will be on the upper horizontal plate.

I wonder if this same theory could be applied to mounting a ladder?
