I am having trouble getting my boat on plane. What type of carb cleaner can I use? Sometimes I have to walk to front of the boat to get on plane. It is under 17 foot long and runs great once on plane. What pitch propeller should I have on my 1978 Johnson 70 HP?

What ever pitch you have on the boat you need to lower it.

I think it would be helpful to list the boat model, current prop size, rpms at WOT etc. Is this a new problem or has it always been this way?

If this problem has always existed I think you may have a setup problem. Its really hard to tell whats going on by your description. Did you ever find out your prop size or WOT Rpm's?
