what pitch and size of propellar would be correct on a 1978 70 hp johnson

I used a 13 3/4 x 15 pitch OMC prop on my 1985 Evinrude 70hp.

Your wide open throttle RPM's should be between 5,000 and 5,500 when you have a light load.

It depends on what boat the motor is mounted on and where and how you use it. Without that information, no good recommendation can be given.
