So I just re-powered my 13' Whaler with this gem. It is in mint cond. My question is, Id does not want to stay in full throttle. If I pull my hand off the shifter, it pulls back. How to I increase the tension?
Thanks....

I have a 71 40 Evinrude and it does the same thing. It may have been designed that way for safety reasons. If you really wanted to keep it at full throttle you could set up some kind of a hook to keep it there. I don't know how to increase the tension to keep it at full throttle.

What kind of throttle do you have? There should be a tension screw on the back of it that you could adjust. Personally I'd be hesitate to add any type of hook that would lock in any position.

I have what came with the boat when I bought it, Evinrude controls. I don't like the hook idea either thus why I mentioned a safety thing to release full throttle if sonething happened to the operator. I will look for the tension screw though.

Look on the bottom of your controls. There should be a tension knob there. Loo at my personal page, I haver a pick of my controls and you can see the tension knob there.
