I have my hubs off for service - new seals and bearing buddies.
Should I replace my springs?
My trailer is 25 years old. Primarily used in freshwater. Very little rust. The springs have a little surface rust, but after careful inspection (before I painted) there are no cracks and they ride very nice and soft. They are slippers, so I grease the spring/frame contact every time I do a road trip.
I have a 700 mile trip coming up and wonder if I should replace anyhow. I've got new hubs last year. All new bunks and brackets last year. New wheels/tires 2 years ago + a spare (all are wearing nicely). So the springs are the key point of anxiety for me. I guess I answered my own question, but still would like to hear from you guys.
Where to Buy? Northern has 1500# slippers with a hook for $22 each. My current ones have no hook. Is there a difference? Advice?

If they only have light surface rust, keep'em. They'll get sand blasted on your trip and when you get home paint them with a good frame paint from an auto paint store.
I can almost guarantee you anything you replace them with today, wont hold up as well as the originals. If they've only got light surface rust, no worries.
Thanks guys. Johnny - your statement rings true with so many things- our boats included. I'll roll on what I've got. You all can expect a phone call from me if I have a spring fold up on me with the wife and 4 kids on a 2-lane in South Alabama :0).
