I would like to get a new cooler for my Montauk. Has any one replaced the igloo cooler in front of the console with a
Yeti or Engel cooler? If so do they fit well in the chocks, and what size did you use? I believe the original cooler to be a 72
or 84 quart Igloo. I do not think they make the 84 quart anymore.
Thanks!

For an Igloo cooler, it is the 94 qt. marine cooler that is the current replacement option. It is currently in production.
The only difference is in the height. If you have rod cushions, simply install it with the hinges facing forward.

I went out to check the igloo cooler on my boat and it is not the dimensions of the 94qt by igloo.
It does seem to match the 72qt in size perfectly according to the igloo web site. Is that odd?
The cooler also has a Whaler factory cushion that fits perfectly on the top. Did they ever use
the 72 for this seat, or maybe the 84 is very close in size to the 72qt. The cushion that came with the boat
cooler will be to small in length for a 94 quart by quite a bit (around 6 inches short).

They started getting smaller and smaller.
The cooler was optional and different sizes were optional too.
If you didn't already have the cushion, you could choose to go with the larger 94qt cooler if you needed more cooler space.

I would not mind a 94 qt but I think it is wider than the console and would touch the floor and not ride on the chocks.

All Montauks from 1977 to 2001 had the same basic console.
All of these models can use the 94qt cooler as long as you have the correct chocks.
Look in the download section for drawings of the chocks.

Just to clarify, the Igloo 94 qt is the practical choice since the 86 qt is no longer produced. The width and height is the same as the 86 qt.
I found the 94qt allowed two to sit up forward.
Prices for coolers run far apart so shop around.
Halls makes a matching cushion for the 94 qt.
