I am thinking of adding a transom support inside the transom above the splashwell. I have seen generic ones on Overton's, etc. Does anyone know of a ready source for one with a Boston Whaler Logo?

also:

If they cannot help you, maybe they can point you in the right direction.
Good luck.

I don't believe that Whaler ever had a branded one. You can email Chuck Bennett and ask him.

You can have them custom made pretty easily. I swear I have seen them with the Whaler logo, though I do not think Whaler ever offered such an item.
My old Whaler dealer, Jacobsen's, here in Seattle, used to have then with their own logo on it, They installed on with every outboard they sold. I was a nice touch.

Thanks guys. TH Marine makes a generic one available on Overtons, West Marine, etc. On their corporate website they list a "Custom" plate as available, but I couldn't find more details as to minimum order, etc... I wonder if they'd be intersted in selling to us if we had a group order to meet the minimum?

I'm in the process of refinishing my 13' (many thanks to all on this board for great advice) and need some info about the practical use of a large aluminum plate on the back of the transom. A previous owner put a nice contoured aluminum plate (about 3' by 2' by 3/16" thick) across the back of the transom. I suspect is was to protect and give added support to the transom. It was attached to the transom using six bolts; four through bolt and the two bottom ones were lag bolts.
I'm going back and forth in terms of putting it back on. My thoughts are that a plate that big really doesn't help that much and is it really worth six extra bolts in the transom. I especially don't like the lag bolts under the waterline. At a minimum I'd use a 10" by 14" plate on the outside of the transom under the motor and a plate on the interior of the transom to spread the load.
Any thoughts?
