Spray in liner

Member Posts: 46 Comments: 0 Joined: 07/15/09	HI, Yes I just had my 68 Nauset done with tuff coat. Overall, I am pleased with it as I will never have to do anything with it again. It provides great traction on the deck and, although I would have preferred a smooth finish for all but the floor, I have to admit it looks good. I dropped a hammer on it and couldn't find a mark where it fell. I just finished installing the new Mahogany console and RPS and it really does look good. I would do it again. Chris

Member Posts: 1987 Comments: 34 Joined: 04/02/05	Yes it works but, it is a major turn off to many down the road if you sell it. Many like to find a boat as unmolested as possible even if it is not cosmetically perfect. Once you spray that liner in there it is a major pain to remove and often is viewed as a sign of a poor fix of a major underling problem. So, if you just plan to use the boat as a knock around beater skiff it may be fine. If you want to maintain the OEM look of the boat and maintain a good market value for the boat I would not recommend doing it. For the most part all of the Crazing you have in the interior is just caused from years of UV / environmental exposure and will likely not be structural. 1993 23' Walkaround Whaler Drive

This one was my Dads and is meant to end up with my oldest son. He wanted it to be work free in the future and,of course he is no where near a purist. He will be using it on the East coast and figured the tuffcoat would be just the ticket.(the lack of that shine on the inside does bother me so will be doing an oiriginal gel-coating on the next one). Member Personal Page Posts: 543 Comments: 1 Joined: 03/07/07	My 66 was also crazed really badly on the inside. It had been outside for about 18 years. I chose to use ultra-tuff. It is available in a light blue that is close to the whaler color. It can be sprayed on without the aggregate to give a smooth surface and you can add the aggregate to the floor for non skid. I have talked to others that used it with great success. I don't know if it was poor prep or weather problems and doing it outside, but mine did not stick like it was supposed to in some spots. It is also very hard to keep clean. Mike

I'd like a light blue or desert tan however i would like it to have and maintain a semi-gloss finish. Cliff 1966 13' Sport with a 1993 40hp Yamaha 2 Smoker
