I just purchased a 13' 1970 Boston Whaler with a side mounted steering wheel.
The wheel lies flat as opposed to an angle as I have seen on other boats of this type.
The wheel is mounted to a simple wooden console and the seats have no backs.
There are no numbers on the hull.
I would like to know what model it is as there is no OEM paperwork or original bill of sale on it.
Can anyone help.

Sounds like a Sport 13 that has had a new steering wheel put in at some point.
I have the exact same setup on a 1973 Sport 13, the wood is all painted white (I don't even think its the original mahogany) and the steering wheel lies flat instead of angled as it is a newer wheel without the tilted mount.
I would love to redo mine with a Super Sport interior from specialty marine, only thing I can't figure out is if a Super Sport console has anything to mount to the center floor on my boat since the diagrams only shows wood under the floor towards the right, but I digress.
Check out my personal page for photo's to see if it is similar.

westerlyri,
It is still a sport model. Sounds like someone switched the steering at some point.
The stencil number should be dead center of the transom on the inside.

If you have Teleflex steering you can get a 20 degree bezel for the steering wheel. Teleflex comes standard with a 90 degree bezel. The replacement will get rid of the weird angle. Any major boat supply place will stock them.

I concur with the comments above. You probably have a 1970 Sport 13 which had its original cable and pulley steering system replaced with a Teleflex mechanical steering system.
Because the systems are most economically purchased as a kit and the kit always includes a 90 degree bezel, it is VERY common to see old Whalers with the steering wheel at the odd angle.
The remedy is a very simple one, replace the bezel with the 20 degree bezel and away you go. The part you want is Teleflex #l TEL-SB27483. This plastic part costs about $20.
A 1970 Sport 13 would have had its Stenciled Serial Number on the inside face of the transom in the splashwell.
