Well I found another deal I just could not pass up. She is a 1994 Boston Whaler 14 Rage - 90hp OMC Jet - (engine is blown) and an EZ-Loader Trailer.

The boat was about 80 miles from my house. Picked it up today. It hasnt run in 4 years and was really filthy. Did some cleaning today and its really a nice boat. A few chips here and there and a crack in the hatch near the hinge (my last one had the same crack - must be a design issue).

Have to decide what I am going to do. Fix engine or drop in a 140 power head I have (dont know if it will fit) or another outboard conversion.

Here are the pics - Dirty and clean.

You seem to have a lot of Rage....... :-)

What happened to the other Rage you put an outboard on?
You should start a project page for that one so members can see what you did.

Maybe even start another project page for this one if that's what you intend on doing...

Nice looking boat, I have never seen one up close. Would like to see how Whaler rigs the engine.

I sold the other Rage Joe. She went to a great new home. The new owners love it. I do have all the photos for that conversion - You are right - when I get the time I will create a page. As for this one - Once I decide what to do I will create a page.

Revengefamily - Is there any pics you would like me to take - You are welcome to come look at it but I think it would be a bit of a drive for you.

Lol.... 140 on the jet drive wouldn't be too fast - They have them with 175 jets in them from the factory on the 15.

If I go outboard it will be a 90 or 115 two stroke.

When buying another toy you must ask yourself 3 question's

1) Do I need it ?

2) can I afford it ?

3) Is it practical ?

If you answered "NO" to any or all of these question's, YA GOTTA BUY IT !

Good Luck, look's like lot's of "FUN" !

I am gone for a while and when I come back you have ANOTHER whaler. I think there is a group somewhere for people with your type of problem. It really did clean up pretty nice. How is the 19 footer coming along. I figured it would be done by now. Of course I am not one to talk since my has just sat all summer long. Nice find!

Hey Scott,

Thanks for the offer. I might be heading your direction in a week or two to pickup a new trailer for my Conquest. Got a great price from a dealer in Point Pleasant.

Would be interested in photos of the engine compartment and how they seal around the unit to keep water out.

Looks like a great boat for kids to start off in. 90 may be a bit much at first but it might be possible to govern the throttle a bit to temper the hp. and thus the top speed.

I am a Whaler addict - I cant control myself.

The 19 is coming along slow but well - All the gelcoat is applied - Now its time to put the cap on and finish buffing it out. The bottom is rubbed out and looks great. I really think she is going to be something special when its done.

Next time I get out there with a camera I will get some photos of the engine area for you. The boat is at my machine shop in West Berlin NJ. About an hour or so from Point Pleasant. The 90 will move the boat in the low 30's I understand. Jets are a bit difficult to dock as they will only steer when under power. With that being said though - if you can dock a jet you can probably dock about anything. lol.

Scott I feel like a dealer who has gotten a innocent kid hooked lol I'm not sure if a 140 V4 will bolt up in place of a 90/115 OMC. I do know people have gotten close to 200 hp out of a modded 115 OMC, but not sure how that sort of motor will work on a heavier boat with a jet outdrive? I sure would love to see a simple and easy fix for these boats, such a shame to see so many on the market with "engine problems".

Scott;
It is good to see that you did find another one to have fun with.
Whaler offerings in the used sections will be seen to be next to nil here.
It is good to see that the economy will be helped by seeing this kind of Whaler adoptions.

Long time no see Rob;
Where are you at with that Low pro refit?

Hey Bob! Yeah its all your fault! Thats my story and I'm sticking to it! lol.

I have a set of 140's sitting at the shop - I will pull the powerheads and see what is different - Maybe it would just be an adapter or something and with my access to a full machine shop I am sure I can figure something out or at least give it the ole college try.
