Let me be the first to say to all here at WC to enjoy this weekend to the fullest. We all deserve it. And lets all hoist one for the ones that are serving in the military. BE safe and post your Whaler weekend next week.

I for one will be finishing up the installation of my Merc short block. I'd love her to be in the water, but at least I'll be in and on the boat.

The kids want to go the lake with the Revenge, but I'm running out of time and need to get this short block done. Striper season is coming...

We got out on the water a LOT this year, we really enjoyed the boat, and "Minor" thing's are getting repaired at a good rate. Hope all stay safe this weekend, PFD's "ON" and "Captain's" are to maintain a "SHARP" lookout ! HAVE FUN !

This should be a great weekend here in VA, mid 80s and sunny all weekend. I have my trim/tilt issue resolved and my boat is in the water. Later today I will be taking my parents and inlaws out for a cruise on the Chesapeake Bay and Lynnhaven River.

My mom will, for the first time in years, get to enjoy the boat that her father owned from '72 - '98. He passed away back in '04, so this boat will always carry special memories for us.

On Labor Day I had the honor to witness US NAVY fighter jets perform the Missing Man formation in honor of a fallen hero, Capt. Scott Speicher.

ESPN did not see fit to show this on TV just before the Miami FSU football game.

This was just not right.

Capt. Speicher was shot down flying a combat mission in an F/A-18 Hornet over west-central Iraq on January 17th, 1991 during Operation Desert Storm. He was just returned to his family and loved ones in Jacksonville, FL.

“Our Navy will never give up looking for a shipmate, regardless of how long or how difficult that search may be,” said Admiral Gary Roughead, Chief of Naval Operations. “We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to Captain Speicher and his family for the sacrifice they have made for our nation and the example of strength they have set for all of us.”

Our entire Whaler NAVY salutes Capt. Speicher.

i agree. i work onboard NAS jax where his remains were flown home to. i watched the procession from the roadside with hundreds of other people, military and civilians . To know that the body of a true military hero who sacrificed himself for what he believed in passed by, was a very sobering and awe-inspiring moment in my life. Do not forget.
