Can someone tell me why all boat workers promise what they cant do for instance when i regelcoated my boat the guy said 2 months for completion.. well after much frushtration 7 months later he finished. Now dont get me wrong he did an outstanding job but why didnt he just tell me 7 months..Im now having the same issue with the canvise work being done again the same story at the end of spring i gave project to the guy and 4 months later still no canvise. The reason i gave him the job so early is for cold weather fishishing well im just sitting here with my fingers crossed hoping to have some protection from the cold fall air. All in all I like the guys but how do they stay in buisness when they take so long?

Captive audience; once the shop has it, most people will not come get it if it takes too long and start all over somehwere else.

Tell ME about it. Taking advantage of the Evinrude re-power warranty bonus I choose to stay with the first dealer as he promised quailty. He just didn't promise to ever get it done! I have been waiting - geeze I forget!

He promised it to me this weekend but I dare on even call-in just to be disappointed. (Trust me you'll all know if it happens - the fan-fare will be nationwide)

They take on all the "small" fix-it jobs and leave the "big-spenders" to dangle.

I will be picking it up AS-IS on Tuesday if it's not. I'm so pissed about it. He can ship the motor back to the factory with my follow-up about my "re-power" experience to Evinrude.

Wow Mark, bum rap. It seems that these guys get you in the door with all kinds of promises only to back away from them once those promises are called in. What I don't think these guys realize is that it's the support they give to thier customers that will continue to bring in more money than the actual sale of that item. Supportability is ALWAYS more lucrative than the product itself.

You all pushed me over the edge, the tension was killing me. I just got back from a road-trip to Edgewater MD.

Pick her up tomorrow!

Whoopie!

Here she is.... almost there...

See where he used some of the cutouts with the logo to cover old holes. New panels with logos etc. The engine is a beast! Water test tomorrow... more road time unfortunately back and forth.

Rom - That is a beautiful baby! "Can't touch that!"

Beautiful restoration timeline. Very entertaining for the we of the cack-handed persuasion. I can't imagine how many hours went into it.

I should probably sign off of this thread since I'm now almost off the "waiting list" and at 7 p.m. will morph into a fast receding wake-line. (no, I'm not rubbing it in)

I feel for all of you "waiting" but my prison sentence is almost over and the remorse of leaving my cell will inevitably vanish like sea spray.

Hopefully, I won't be back. Adieu.

Took my guy three weeks to do nothing. He even stopped answering my calls. "thanks to caller ID" Just be honest and let me know your to busy. I finally left a message, "Don't touch a thing, I'll do it myself..."

Now I hardly get a wave when entering the marina, needless to say I'm looking for a nicer place for next summer. His loss...
