Can a simple console fuel gauge like the one below be installed to read the level in a standard plastic fuel tank(below)? It appears there are some systems but the floater and the gauge are of short distance apart, I'd want the tank at least 2-3 feet away from the console. I know not all tanks are located directed underneath the consoles using a gauge.
While there are many types of senders, I am not sure they will fit a Moeller tank. Typically, the sender has a round top with a arm that goes in the tank and has a float attached.
Here is the install diagram. There may be a way to cut the round hole you need, assuming you are considering one of the larger tanks with the flat surface on the top.
I have the 12 gallon low profile topside tank, so you are saying I'd have to cut the hole on the tank? Even if this is done, can the gauge line be extended several feet?
