Hi guys,
I'm planning on buying a 20 pitch yamaha performance series prop. (3 blade polished stainless steel)
I currently have a 19 pitch yamaha painted stainless steel prop.
My top speed is 44.8 mph at 5400-5500 rpm.
I plane very fast with my current prop so i dont mind losing some time with the hole shot. i would like to get a higher top end.
what do you guys think?

Hmmm.. 42 in my 17 is scary fast in anything but glass smooth water, its do-able buy I would think you will loose 500-800 @ WOT. I wouldn't spend the green, but that's MHO

I may be wrong but I would say you will be lucky to get one to two miles per hour faster. More pitch should drop your rpm's or revolutions at the prop. same speed less rpm's. What is the red line rpm rating on that motor. 5500 sounds about right.
My bet is you will wish you had spent those dollars else where.

I have had propellers re-pitched at a Pacific Propeller here in San Diego. There's got be a place closer to you that can do the same thing. Maybe add a ½ a pitch, so you get a little more out of her. Other ways are drop in diameter and up in pitch. As I recall they can re-pitch up and not down and can put a cup in but not take it out in aluminum. SS& brass/ bronze you can do more with than aluminum.

Yes, you will see more speed with the Yamaha Performance Series. It is the same propeller as the Stiletto Advantage, which can be bought for about half the price of the US Boat Supplies source.
The Yamaha Painted Stainless Steel propellers are good props and have decent stern lift. The Performance Series/Advantage/Turbo 1 will give good bow lift and allow you to wring all the top speed you can out of the boat.

thanks guys. i'll have a look at the stiletto advantage prop.
i live on an island and i dont think they can re-pitch the prop here but i'll ask at a marine shop if they know of anyone who can do it.
