I would guestimate an experienced E-TEC installer could do it:
1.5 hours to remove engine, remote tank, gauge and throttle.
1.0 hour to hang new motor, fill fluids, install prop, connect steering and remote tank
1.5 hour to run harnesses and cables, install gauges and throttle.
0.5 hour to test electrical, controls and motor.
The cost depends on the shop rate. Could range from $80-120/hr.

Not bad a little high but generally in the ball park. Derigging is a pain, but since my deck was up that was the easy part. Although I probably spent an hour getting the old cables off the outboard. Rigging the eTec took about 1 hour after the outboard was on to run all the cables, hook up to the outboard and get the network installed. Again, my deck was up for most of the cable pulling, but it's really not bad to pull cables thru the tunnel on the 18's. The hardest part of the install was getting the cables thru the grommet on the outboard.

at the very least consider derigging the gauges and remote from the console and pulling out the wire harness / throttle and shift cables. that should cut down on the work. Are the gauges your getting I-Command digital or the standard System Check?
