Boat hull and motor is a 1988. The motor is an Evinrude E90TLCDA with an estimated 400 hours, never overhauled. VRO supposedly works fine, only used Johnson oil. The motor serial number is R1808767.
In the ballpark. Average Montauk prices are 6-8k including a trailer. The condition of the hull, trailer, boat will tell you were you are in the range. Photos can be deceiving.
Well, I went down and inspected this boat on Saturday. It's been out of the water for two years. The owner is 80+ and has health issues which are obvious from observing him.
The plus side is that the boat has been in freshwater all its life. However, the condition strikes me as average used. The boat has been set up and used extensively for fishing inland stripers. I plan to also fish with it.
The teak needs refinishing throughout. The owner is having the marine shop go thru the motor (90 Evinrude VRO) this week for a compression test and is installing three new batteries and an impeller.
There are two mounted swivel plastic fighting chairs, one in front mounted to the vertical rear of the baitwell/storage compartment and one in the rear mounted on top of a Boston Whaler accessory/auxiliary stern deck thing.
This unit is claimed by the owner to be an option direct from the factory. It sits up from the deck about 10 inches and extends about 3 - 4 feet from the transom. It's fiberglass, same color as the rest of the boat interior and has a small livewell, probably 8- 10 gallons that drains out the back of the transom. The oil container is under this unit also, of course.
The console is all original. The gauges are supposed to work. In front of the console is the original ice chest with seat cushions on top. All of the cushions look to be in average to good shape. The boat has been under a carport all its life when not in use. I inspected the bottom and hull and saw no evidence of any damage. The fiberglass does have a roughened feel and look to it underneath.
There is an electric trolling motor mounted up on the front gunwales. The gas tank is 20 gallons and under the captain's chair to the rear of the console. The gas tank was repaired for a leak 1x. The blue bimini canvass top is laid flat to the front of the boat.
The interior is very crowded and cramped to me with the two swivel seats mounted.
A lot will depend on the results of the compression test and tune up. What kind of condition is the boat itself in? Hull, sides, deck, etc. How about the trailer?
