Member Personal Page Posts: 44 Comments: 1 Joined: 05/04/08	I am familiar with the fact that this junction box is where the electricity gets transferred from the switch to the running lights. My question is that the connections are wide open to the elements. Is there supposed to be a cover over this connection box? By the mid 1980s Whaler added a plastic cover with a circuit breaker mounted to it. I liked the old system. It was simple and you can see if the connections are remaining clean and secure. The plastic cover looked nice but corrosion would always build up under there and those damn circuit breakers were always crapping out.

Member Personal Page Posts: 82 Comments: 2 Joined: 09/22/08	On my 77, when I rewired, I went to Radio Shack and bought a plastic "project box". It is a small plastic box with cover that was big enough to put the terminal box in. I drilled a hole in the bottom for the wires to go in and the back for the wires to exit. The only up grade necessary is changing out the screws for the cover to stainless steel. This cleaned up the look quite a bit while protecting the connections.

I owned it for 15 years without any problems although the boat was not moored or docked all season.
