Hi All: This is for all the Canadians on Whaler Central. When I had my new Whaler cover shipped to me just recently from the USA I had it shipped UPS ground. Trying to save a $.
Didn't work and soon as this happened I remembered I knew this from some time ago. You tend to forget all these details of life when you get retired
When you ship UPS ground, they will charge you a brokerage fee plus surcharges to handle the money. When you ship air, no brokerage fee. You can compare the two rates but I think you'll find that the charge for ground + brokerage fee is more than the air without brokerage.
(I paid $49. brokerage plus $5. surchage for them to pay the taxes, plus $4. surcharge for them to collect the money from me. The taxes were $24.) Ok, that wasn't a happy transaction.
I am though really happy with my cover (:-)
