Purchased a 1969 Boston Whaler but I have no idea which model it is. The owner thinks it is a Montauk but from what I have found the Montauk was not made in 1969. Confused.

I little more info would be needed to make a guess such as length, pictures and/or configuration if original. You may also want to look through this link to see if anything matches.

Whaler made quite a few different models in 1969 but we can all agree it is not a Montauk.
It is very common for sellers to use the term Montauk and Whaler almost interchangeably.
We cannot help you identify what you have unless you describe it as Turpin suggests.

The whaler measures 16'7". The anchor storage area is rectangular in the front of the boat and there are 2 sitting spots on each side of the anchor box. Loooking thru some pictures on this site I am wondering if it might be a Currituck. Anybody know?????

There were 2 types of hulls for the 16' 7" models as you found out.
Early smirkless style until 1976/1977 and then the smirked hull.
The only difference between the different models is the interior.
Without seeing your interior, we have no idea what model you have.
If you look through the Whaler Model Specification section for the 16/17 models, you should find an interior that looks like your boat unless of course yours has been modified.

Check through these pics in the photo gallery. The 16's start towards the bottom of the page and continue on to page two. The seats/benches and console style are the significant differences among models.

Well, its obvious you have one of the 16 foot non-smirked hulls made from 1961 to 1975. If it is blue inside instead of tan, then we can narrow the year to before 1971.
As to whether it is a Currituck, that would depend on what the interior configuration is. Without knowing that, there is no way to differentiate it from a Nauset, Eastport, Sakonnet, Minot, Katama, Tashmoo, Bass Boat, Newport or Menemsha, all of which were made on that hull.
