I am looking to add a transom trolling motor for my 13ft Sport. I would like any suggestions such as brand and needed thrust. Pictures would also be great. Just email me them at surfinghb1@aol.com

I have a 13 sport, as you can see in my project album, I just added a 40lb. Minn Kota Traxxis, 36 inch shaft, variable speed. (I really need to update my album as the boat is nearly finished now...) It really is not a heavy duty thing, But I can clamp it right on the impression in the port side of the transom and it runs good for up to nearly 6 hours on speed "25" about 1/4 throttle. It is tied into the same group 24 deep cycle that my Lowrance HD-S runs off of. I the variable speed was another 60 bucks or so, but it is worth it, I think total was around 400. I think 40 is plenty of thrust for the 13 footer unless you are in heavy winds or currents. Some would probably suggest 55lb. if that is the case.

Do you use your trolling motor in salt water? I was thinking about the minn kota riptide for salt water. Also how many batteries do you run in your 13? Do you run a seperate battery for your motor and another one for your trolling motor?

I am in fresh water. My motor is a 1981, pull start. No battery for that. I have one battery for my unit and the trolling motor, thats it. I didn't look at your location. I would say maybe a 55 then, I am not sure if Minn Kota makes the salt water version any smaller than that.
