I found soem Z-legs, and am in theprocess of building the rest of a RPS> I downloaded the pics and drawings, but am unclear if the pics are for an old style rps or the z leg version.
Can someone confirm which version the drawings are for?
I'm a big pictures nut, and am wondering if I can talk someone into taking pics of their z-leg version? I really cannot make out some details from ther drawings and it woud help a lot.
Thanks guys.

Mr T, my legs are off of my 83 Montauk RPS and are not connected to anything at the moment as I am sanding my hull at this time. I can bring my camera to the office and take pics tomorrow at any angle with measurements if you like. Just let me know what you need.

I just built the one from the downloads here and it seems to be the right one for my Newport 18. Although I did not know there were two versions. What are the differences?

The other is the older all wood one, including the seat, from the Sakonnet model or optional for other older models like the Nauset or Eastport.

Joe I did not see those, they are just what I needed. With the drawings and this I can get a good feel for what I'm looking at here.

Yeah I have seen that one. I thought maybe there was two different sizes that went with the padded seat.

Mr. T.
My personal page has a couple of pics of the one I made. I used mahogany because teak was much (way too much) expensive.
By the way, there may be an error in one of the dimensions in the RPS drawings. See the following thread for some additional info.

Thanks all, got the pics and am starting to mark the wood for cuts tonight.
I do have a question or two for you all if you'll oblige me.
On the drawing for the RPS seat cushion, there are two 1" holes in the middle of the drawing listed; what are they for?
The pivot block does not list a thickness for the wood. Anyone know that one?
On the RPS back rest end view, there is a piece of wood inside listed as 3 7/8 by 1/2' is that the back side? I assume it is to brace the opening.
I'm going to use mahogany as I have some already; it's 3/4 inch instead of 1/2. I know that will add 1/4 inch on top and bottom of the backrest. I'm wondering if I add 1/2 inch to the top and bottom pieces (make the 3 1/4 top piece 3 3/4 and increase the bottom 4 to 4 1/2, will it affect the pivot point geometry? i.e., will it still move front to back the same? In looking at it, I am thinking it should be ok, but wanted to check.
Thanks guys,
oh yeah got a new camera today so will be posting up some pics, as soon as I figure it out here. Dunno why but I can do it on other sites no problem, but this one does not upload.

Mr. T,
The pivot blocks are 3/4". For confirmation you can see the dimension on the "rear" drawing.
I was told that the two 3 7/8" x 1/2" pieces brace the opening where the middle piece is only 1" in height instead of 3 1/4". I moved them a bit closer together, an inch I think.
The drawings call for 3/4" material on the bottom and the top. The bottom piece is inside so any thickness change won't affect the pivot block. The bottom of the pivot block is 3" from the bottom of the seat back.
Be advised that if you don't have a stock seat the placement of the pivot block may make a difference. I have a seat that is thicker than the stock seat; consequently the seat back does not swivel all the way back or to the front. See my personal page for that issue. I didn't think about that before I installed the blocks.
