my tool kit contains:
6ft of 12ga wire
10ft steel wire (for tying broke things)
couple of fuses
spare spark plugs
variety sized nuts, bolts and screws
cheap set of sockets & screw drivers (minimal amount)
plyers
extra prop nut & cotter pin
a cheap test/ continuity test light
zip ties
electrical tape
cheap multitool (like the gerber but el' cheapo version)

I'm sure there are a few other things I left out but this is the bulk of it. If you can find a motorcycle tool kit, they also work in a pinch and take up minimal space. They usually come in a small padded pouch.

The only time it ever rains is if you leave your raincoat at home. Wink

I have a kit in a soft bag similar to an insulated lunch bag that I share between boats. There are two plastic boxes that hold small items such as screws, wire terminals, fuses etc... It took me a while to determine what I needed to carry. In it I have...

Asst. electrical components, fuses, heat shrink tubing, bulbs, wire, electrical pliers and a digital volt meter.

Ty wraps, electrical tape, hose clamps, spark plugs,
Sockets, wrenches and a couple screw drivers. Clean rags, hand cleaner.... LED flashlight... This is just from memory...

I don't have Sea tow so I'm on my own. I've had to play "McGuyver" in the past to limp home. Somehow I've always made it back to the dock... Knock on wood...
