Check my personal page. I unloaded the boat from the trailer onto the lawn (soft grass) then had a few of my sons friends help me roll it over. We picked up the front end high enough to get the trailer under it, then pulled it forward on the traler.
The front end has a 4x4 across the trailer for support. We flipped it back over the same way in reverse.

Somewhere here on the site is a pictorial of how Whalerdan did his 17. I don't remember if it is in his personal pages or not but if you PM him I'm sure he'll send them to you.

My 15 was pretty easy with man power, about 6 or so. I would think with enough guys you could roll a 17 pretty easy.

What year was your montauk? I wouldn't think you would need 11 men.

We just flipped my 83' for final sanding yesterday and it takes 6 to do it well. 11 and a case of beer to throw it around like a toy. Good luck with the project.

That makes me feel alot better because I plan on flipping my 74 montauk this winter and was hoping I could get away with 5 or 6 people.

This flipping Thread reminds me of a question I've always had: can you potentially harm the engine by flipping the boat on its head 180 degrees? 90 degrees?

Thank You, SK

I think it depends on the individual strength of the people and whether the liquid refreshment starts before or after the work.

I would have not thought of flipping with the motor on. I suppose it would not hurt a two stroke to stand on its head for a bit. I would think it would be just as easy to take it off and get it out of the way. I suppose a 4 stroke would need to be drained of all fluids.

On a 2-stroke, the only thing to worry about is the lower unit oil. On a 4-stroke the oil would drain out of the crank case via any open valve. Leaving the engine adds another 300+ lbs. Better off removing the engine.
