Hi All,
As our boating season approaches here in the North East, I would like to purchase a mooring cover for my 74 Katama. I've searched online and on WC and cant seem to find one that fits my needs and wallet. Mills seems to have a nice cover but out of my league price wise, and everything else I have seen is a tie down to the trailer type that won't really work if the boat is in the water.
Any suggestions?
Thanks, Rich

Maybe you could find a local canvas place that will make you a custom one for a reasonable price.
That is probably the only way you will get one that fits and works really well.
Good luck

If you are feeling ambitious (and brave), you could try making your own. Sailrite is a sail and canvass do-it-yourself supply house that sells kits, and they also do custom work. They have locations in Annapolis and Churubusco, Indiana.
If nothing else, they have a great website and catalog...

I purchased the Sunbrella canvas from canvasdealer.com and made a new T-top for my Outrage. Had no time or experience sewing but wanted to give it a try. Took a while but came out pretty good considering... Depending on your inclination, you may want to give that route a go.

For the right fit, you really need a canvass maker.

When I purchased my montauk it was stitting in a field unused for 7 years.. The mills Mooring cover had blown off and was laying in the boat for years... At first look, it seemed as though it was junk. After pulling it out of the boat and laying it out on the lawn all that was wrong was a 6 inch tear from the corner of the RPS. I brought it to Mills and for a small fee they fixed it. The part that I was impressed with was the durability and heavy duty contruction of the cover. If the cover was tied down properly from the begining it would have been perfect. This boat was 50 ft from the water blocked up with full exposure to the wind. This may sound like a commerical for Mills... but I feel like its money well spent... This cover fits perfect and even have the metal clips that snap over the rub rail perfectily.. its really heavy duty.. just my opinion....
