Joined the forum a while back but just got a Whaler. Wanted something to use alone in Florida bass lakes and with company on the intercoastal and ran across a 1984 13' Whaler that apparently was used as a tender for a 50' Hatteras called the Miss Redco. That was the name that was sanded off of my Whaler and I only noticed it because it is the only area on the hull where the gelcoat was not shiny. Original gelcoat. Never painted. There are some fixtures in the bow - I do not know the purpose of them but the roller on front would likely be for towing. Photos posted in links.
Boston Whaler identified it as a 1984 Sport - the serial number is still clearly printed on the inside transom - sold out of West Palm Beach with mahogany. The wood has been painted white for some reason and original helm replaced and a larger windscreen attached. The original mahogany finish was visible under the forward hatch, which was plywood.
My immediate plans are to get the engine - a 50HP 1997 Evinrude 2 cyl - and electricals refined. I also plan to restore the original mahogany. The seats and side boards are in great shape but need removal and stripping. I will build a new helm. These will be 2019 projects as we go north for the summer and fall. Thanks for listening....
