I have had a 1974 17ft Montauk for a year and after reading all the great posts here I figure I need to raise my 2001 90hp Yamaha to "Two Holes Up"...although it runs to 5,200 rpm no problem. But perhaps it will allow a higher mph?

But then I got to looking to move the engine up and I can't find the lower mounting bolts..are they under the trim unit? Or was this mounted without lower bolts (which I can imagine would be the case)?

here is a link to the pic

Also my thanks to all the contributors here. i just rewired the entire boat based off all the great threads here.

Raise your motor up two holes and then drill the "Green" holes in this diagram.

As always, measure twice inside and out before drilling any holes.
Make sure the Green holes will clear the splashwell.
Check to see if you can drill the Yellow holes but most likely you cannot.
