Just bought a 2006 Yamaha 90 2 Stroke with less than 100 hours of use.
The cowl is in pretty good shape but I decided to have it painted and cleared with Yamaha materials.
New decals should make it look really great and will be completed this week.

QUESTION: What is the recommended prop size and pitch for this set up?

Knowing that there is a lot of subjectivity and personal preference on this subject.
Just looking for some good advice for my renovation project.

Forgot to mention that the prop on the motor now is:

Stiletto 11317
Stainless Steel - 3 Blades
Diameter: 13 - 1/4"
Pitch: 17"

Is this a good choice for a Yamaha 90 2-Stroke + 1983 Montauk ?

Thanks !

I had a 1987 Montauk with the same motor.

I recall that is a good, if not the, prop.

Make sure the motor is mounted at the proper height.

It should be 2 holes "up". Top mounting bolts in the 3rd hole counting down from the top.

Thanks for the confirmation / reply.

The motor is currently mounted on the 2nd hole counting down.

I will try it out, check the RPM and see if I need to move the motor up an additional hole.

Really appreciate you advice !

Then your motor is mounted 1 Hole Up.

You need to raise it up 1 more hole.

Hi Greg! Glad to see you here. Only on a few sea trials will you know which direction to go.

That motor needs to max RPM near 5500, but not over.
