Finally got my Whaler 27 out on the water. It was med-heavy loaded. Currently with Yamaha twin 250 2 stroke's with SS 21" 3 blade props. Max RPM was 4900 trimmed all the way in. Seemed kinda slow to get on plane. Debating between 17" & 19" Most of my boating will be at a mid cruising speed. Thanks for any input.
I really appreciate your advice Silentpardner but I'm not in ready to spend the money for the Rev 4 props. What would be a good option in a 3 blade? Thanks
Contact Ken at Propgods in Florida with your details. They will have the best price on the props you need and will exchange props if you need to test more than the first set. The 17 pitch saltwater series Yamaha props were on the Yamaha 200's on my boat when I bought it, and they performed very well. They were 3 blade props and pushed the boat to 44 mph on Lake Michigan in ice-cream conditions during the water trials pre-purchase. I would definitely try 17 pitch props on your engines on that boat, as I have previously stated. I don't think you are going to achieve Max WOT with any other size, but I am not a prop expert. I do know that Ken at propgods actually IS a prop expert, and I am certain he can get you fixed up with props you are happy with for your boat for the least expense and hassle. I buy all my props and hubs through him.
Remember, ALL PROPS ARE EXPENSIVE :) Getting the right props on your boat will not be cheap, but you can do it for less than you may be thinking right now :)
I don't know where you are located within Florida, but I know Propgods used to actually meet their customers on the water with a selection of potential props for their customers and change them out on the spot for tests until their customer was completely satisfied. If you are close enough and have the time to do this, this might be the best option for you, and it would completely resolve all your concerns immediately.
Here is a link to his information, use it and you won't be disappointed :)
