Have settled on repowering my 1972 13'(15" transom) from a '72 evinrude 25 hp , to a Fourstroke 25 hp Suzuki, remote steer. Any Suzuki users have any performance reviews?
We did just that on a 1976 13' . Extra weight of the engine wasn't a big deal. We did have to cut the transom as It was full height. (We had bought the engine to re-power another boat and changed boats, when we found the this whaler. It'll easily plane 4 people. We had to install a whaletail trim tab on the cavitation plate to stop hull hopping. Also had to over prop the pitch 2 so the engine wouldn't over rev (Rev limiter kicks in). Install an extension handle (Bass pro shop) to extend to rear seat. No steering console on this model. She'll hit 25 knots with a clean bottom. Wonderful boat.
So you turned a 20" to a 15" transom? Don't hear of that much on this site. So two comments and two totally different performances. Both of you have a Suzuki 25? My '72 Rude when running will plane my wife and 11 year old daughter and myself no prob. Top out around 21 mph. Thanks for your responses btw.

When you cut the transom the engine is height probably ended up being wrong which is why the whale tail trim tab helped.
