Hi!

I've done some thread searching and couldn't find exactly the answer I was looking for. I have a 2000 16' Dauntless with a 2000 Yamaha F100. The engine is mounted two holes up.

I'm looking for a replacement propeller and am considering a stainless or painted stainless prop. My goal is for a better hole shot / quicker plane. I have young children and am not necessarily concerned with top end speed.

I have a slight vibration at idle speed and the current prop has some dings. I'm not sure of the size of the current propeller. I've seen some recommendations for this boat/motor combo for 13-1/4" x 17 propellers - does this sound right?

Any recommendations or user experiences appreciated!!

Forgot to mention that his Dauntless has the stern notch.

You should pull the prop you have and look on the back inside rim and report the part/size.

The vibration is due to the dings.

Thanks Flounder. No need to get your prop info. My current prop is a Solas 13 1/4 X 19. I do want to invest in a new prop this season and was looking for suggestions. The 2000 Yamaha F100 struggles to generate torque during acceleration so I was looking for improved lift and quicker planing versus top end speed and just looking for suggestions before making a purchase.

Thanks for responding!

When discussing props, you should also review the mounting of the motor.

Your motor should be bolted to the transom using the second or third holes (counting down from the top). If the motor is mounted all the way down on the transom, it is slowing you down with the added drag of the motor being too deep.

What is the WOT rpm with the current prop and typical gear/fuel/passenger load?

For better acceleration, time to plane, you would want to drop down one size of pitch in the same make/model.

Both my Yamaha motors had OEM painted stainless steel props and did really well.
