Left the Whaler at home and went on a charter out of Grand Isle, La. this Saturday. The forecast was for clouds, wind, rain, and thunderstorms so we knew the weather was going to be great. We had fairly calm seas, a few early morning clouds, and then sunshine for the rest of the day. We each caught over 100 lbs. of fish including red snapper, mangrove snapper, bluefish, barracuda, redfish, black drum, and cobia of 35, 28, and 24 lbs.. We were about 25 miles from the marina but only about 5 miles offshore. We saw a 17 ft. bay boat at one of the rigs we fished. Unfortunately, the only camera we brought with us was not working. I have the itch to go try that with my 13 on a calm day. I can stay inland for most of the trip and then head straight out to the rigs to limit open water travel. If I do it both eyes will be on the weather. All in all, it was a great day of fishing!
