It has a 13-7/8x17p sst but I think the same dia. prop in a 19p would work also. I have to get my tach replaced so I know what rpm's it is turning. Just sounds like it's turning too many rpm's. What size prop are most of you running on the 15ft. sport with a 2000 year model 70hp. Johnson.
Yes, a 17-pitch SST is not enough for the 2nd-generation OMC 70 on a 15. Most people run 19s or even 21s in the SST prop. The SST is not really a modern design, though. When I had that motor on my 15 I ran a Stiletto Advantage 13.25 x 17. It was perfect for the setup - better grip in all conditions, and lets you raise the motor to improve performance.
