I have been working on my 1978 21 Revenge for the last few days taking off everything and getting it down to a bare hull, so that I can awl grip it. As I crouched in the cuddy area i could see that there's just no way to get to the storage areas easily. I could already invision the anchor rode tangling while I'm up top trying to pull it through the hawse pipe. Not too mention the previous owner removed all the cuddy parts and threw them away. So as I got to looking at pictures of the same era Outrages I got to thinking I might be better off just turning mine into one. I'm sure it would make it worth more down here in S Fla as a center console. Plus it would increase the fishability of the boat.,and i could always get a bowdodger, weather curtain set to sleep on it if need be. It would even give me more room than the factory cuddy by a large amount. For the record the boat is far from any museum piece, so it's not like I'm destroying a cream puff or anything.
So if anyone has a Revenge and needs specific parts for that model, drop me a line. I will take lots of pics and document the entire process. It just solves too many problems by turning it into a center console and has no drawbacks. Feel free to trhow any questions out there or bring something to my attention i may have forgotten.
Thanks for the link Peter, I knew I had seen someone do that to a later model Whaler before but couldn't find the story. I will do all my measuring and marking this weekend or so and then break out the cut off wheel or sawzall and get to work. I know I'm going to cringe at that first cut
I'm still gathering parts and a few other odds & ends. I'm also getting the other minor projects done on the 13 and 15, so when I do dive in head first on the 21, I won't be stopping until it's done. My main decision at this point is if I'm going to keep the rails on the boat or go without? I keep hearing how they are going to get in my way for fishing, but like the rails for grabbing onto in the snotty stuff.
