I see that it is recommended to go with an 18' steering cable for a montauk. Where is a good place to purchase a cable?

Both places sell just the cable also. I have purchased from both, and they are reputable with quick service.

Something to mention before ordering the cable is check to ensure which helm you have as they do have different teeth depending on the model and year. Your old cable should have a Manufactures # and length stamped or printed on it. Some of the different helm types from Teleflex are Safe-T, Big-T, Safe-T Quick and a couple of different NFB helms one is a three turn helm and the other is a 4.2 turn helm. I know I received the wrong cable once and did not figure it out until it was all in place and was trying to feed it in to the helm. Had to pull it all out again and run back to the store. Not much fun.
