Does marine varnish look different than regular varnish? I have a rocking chair I am refinishing too that will go in my living room, any reason I can use left over marine varnish on it?
They that give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty or safety.

Some marine varnishes have an amber color to them. For indoor projects I prefer a good polyurethane product like MinWax. Polyurethane is easier to apply and is clear. I also like a satin finish for indoor projects. On my Whaler bright work I have only used gloss finishes. There are not any reasons why you could not use Marine varnish. It just depends on the finish you are looking to achieve for the rocking chair.
It should still work great. It is just a good bit more expensive, you might want to save your good marine varnish and go get some minwax for the chair.
