When I put my photos into my computer they go in as uppercase .JPG. How can I change it to lowercase?

Ian,
Fr uploading sake, or file type recognition, it doesn't really matter if it's upper case or lower case.
If you want to change it for the sake of changing it;
1) If you're using a PC(Not Mac)Navigate to Control Panel>Folder Options>View
2) Scroll down to and uncheck/untick Hide File extensions of known file types.
3)Click Apply and OK
4) right Click the file, and Choose Rename.
5) Change the upper case to lower case by retyping the file extension, in this case .JPG to .jpg
I'm not certain as to what program you are importing your images into your computer, however, in whatever program you are using to import the photos, under the preferences, there is most likely a place to change the file extension from caps to lowercase.
Hope this helps
John

ian,
You uploaded one photo that was lowercase .jpg
How did you do that?
Yes, all photos must be lowercase .jpg or they will not upload to the personal page section.
As elmroc mentions, if you are on a Windows computer, then you need to perform so type of voodoo......
There are other posts about this that might help Windows users.
On a Mac, all you need to do is rename it using the .jpg

Thanks elmroc, I'll have to mess around with ur instructions and maybe I'll get it. Joe, the .jpg I uploaded I first forwarded to a friend who knows more than I do about computers and he did some research on google and found a "free for a month" program that would do the conversion and sent it back to me which i then put up here. I need to get my camera set to .jpg then it won't be such an issue. My big problem now is I wanted to put the pic up as my avatar also and I can't get that to work either, #$%@it!

There are other free programs that we have listed in the FAQ on personal pages.
I don't do Windows.
I paid a little more and bought Apple computers and don't have those Windows problems.
I know some people have to have Windows computers because their business uses them, but you couldn't give me one...
I would rather send smoke signals....
Good Luck

Voodoo? A right mouse button click over the file name or folder to bring up a context box, click Rename and type in the new file name. I guess it could be more challanging for some than others.

I have heard many reports that that doesn't work properly for many people.
Even though it looks like it changes the extension .jpg to lowercase, it still uploads it in uppercase .JPG
You have to go into settings somewhere (I forgot long ago) and change it in the system so it will keep it in lowercase.
If it was just a right click, and it stayed changed, I think everyone should know that if it was that simple.

I don't think that method used to work for me either for some reason, but I just tried it, then dropped the image into Fast Image Resizer (which makes it smaller, last step before upload) and the lower case .jpg survived the journey... So it seems worth a try initially.

No it isn't...
Not for some...
Dave dropped it on a resizer which might have done something to it.
Other people continue to have problems.
I wish it were that simple. Then we wouldn't be getting these same questions every month or so.
