my railing fits over the mounting plate! Every replacment I look at fits inside of the plate.. Any ideas where to get the original?

I must say I have no idea what you are talking about.
Your "rails fit over a mounting plate"... ?
Please let us know more about this mounting plate.
You might have original pieces and just don't know it yet.

The railing tube come down to the mounting plate. the plate has a lesser size piece of tubing that the railing sleeves over, then it is tightened with a set screw! I will try to post a pick!

They sound original and normal to me...
