I have an early seventies standard 13. This week I picked up a bow rail for it from Craigslist. It is identical to some that I see advertised as OEM rails. Supposedly it was from a later 70's 13 footer. I have not installed it yet because it just looks disproportionally high. Would it be bad form for me to lower it by 4 to 6 inches? It's a sturdy rail but it isn't welded, just screwed together. Any advice would be appreciated.

Lots of photos to look at on our site.

Here is one in the Whaler Models section. Link is on left sidebar.

Thanks....
That is exactly what I have. It just looks too high. Do you know of anyone who chopped a bow rail like that down?
A visual would help. Either I put it on as is, chop it by 6-8 inches or sell it. Whatever happens, happens this week....once it's in the water it's in the water for the summer and I hate working on it when it's rocking and rolling.

Take a look through all the members personal pages.
Look under the 13' models.
You can also see the 15' models look a little high also.

Yes, some people do cut them down.
That is entirely up to the individual.

Look through the personal pages and there are some 16/17' models that have been cut down.
