When measuring to determine the length of brass to use, add 1/4" or 5/16" beyond the hull. So, if the distance between the inner hull and outer hull is 3", cut the brass 3 1/2" or 3 5/8" long.
I have read all the threads on this subject and I have have tried both measurements with equal success.
